About the Platform
ELIXIR Italy’s Compute Platform enables researchers and life sciences professionals to access integrated, scalable solutions for data analysis, cloud computing, storage, and workflow execution. In a landscape where biological data is generated at a massive scale and often stored across distributed archives, ELIXIR Italy ensures researchers can bring their analysis to the data, securely and efficiently.
By combining high-performance computing (HPC), federated cloud services, and national infrastructure, the platform supports everything from routine bioinformatics tasks to large-scale, complex analyses. Its goal is to simplify access to advanced computational resources across Italy, promoting reproducibility, interoperability, and innovation in research and industry.
Organization
The ELIXIR-IT Compute Platform brings together a network of national technological partners. These include top-tier cloud providers, HPC centres, and service developers that jointly sustain the digital backbone of ELIXIR Italy. The infrastructure is structured to support flexibility, scalability, and resilience, key to powering modern bioinformatics.
The Compute Platform has a hybrid access model ensuring researchers of all skill levels can benefit from powerful HPC capabilities.
