Metabolomics
About the Community
The ELIXIR Metabolomics Community captures user needs to drive the development and uptake of services (e.g. databases, software tools, training materials, interoperability resources and compute and storage services) in strict connection with other ELIXIR Communities and Platforms.
Key activities of the Metabolomics Community include:
- Enhancing Data Quality: The community is engaged to improve and standardise metabolomics data annotations and compound characterisation, ensuring data accuracy and facilitating its interpretation.
- Enabling Multi-Omics Analysis: The community promotes the integration of metabolomics with other omics data (genomics, proteomics, etc.) by facilitating data management, sharing, and FAIR principles (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable).
- Building Research Networks: The community actively fosters collaboration by creating research networks, supporting project proposals, and organising specialised workshops.
Contribution of ELIXIR Italy
ELIXIR-IT acts as a bridge for Italian metabolomics facilities, fostering collaboration and identifying areas for improvement:
- Connects and Empowers Facilities: ELIXIR-IT facilitates collaboration among Italian metabolomics facilities, ensuring researchers have access to the resources and expertise they need.
- Identifies Needs and Gaps: ELIXIR-IT actively assesses the needs and requirements of the Italian metabolomics community.
- Promotes Collaboration with ELIXIR: ELIXIR-IT works hand-in-hand with other ELIXIR communities and platforms to develop comprehensive solutions that benefit the entire metabolomics field.
