Biodiversity

About the Community

The ELIXIR Biodiversity Community addresses a wide range of scientific knowledge fundamental to biodiversity studies. This mainly includes the assessment of species diversity on Earth, their functions, and their response to changing environments. The requirements behind the achievement of such objectives reside in the availability of curated data infrastructures able to provide high-quality data and related analysis tools, which satisfy global standards such as those based on FAIR principles (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable).

Among the goals of this community, we can list:

  • Supporting and promoting the development of data standards and best practices in biodiversity research
  • Promoting tools, workflows and data sources' usability and interoperability
  • Enhancing the networking and communication with broader audiences, including non-domain experts.
