Highlights from the ELIXIR Italy All Hands Meeting 2026

The ELIXIR-IT All Hands Meeting 2026, held in Bari on 9–10 February, brought together researchers, infrastructure representatives and stakeholders from across the Italian life sciences ecosystem. To capture the perspectives emerging from the meeting, a short video features interviews with several key participants, highlighting the strategic role of research infrastructures in strengthening collaboration, data sharing and innovation in the life sciences.

 

Among the speakers are Graziano Pesole, Head of Node of ELIXIR Italy, Francesca De Leo, Deputy Head of Node of ELIXIR Italy and coordinator of the ELIXIRxNextGenIT project, Francesco Dotta, Director of the Department of Biomedical Sciences at the National Research Council (CNR), Marialuisa Lavitrano, Director of BBMRI.it at the University of Milano-Bicocca, Eugenio Fava, Head of Research Infrastructures at Human Technopole, Bruno Fosso, Associate Professor of Molecular Biology at the University of Bari Aldo Moro, and Irena Maus, Deputy Head of Node of ELIXIR Germany.

 

Through their reflections, the video highlights the importance of multidisciplinary collaboration, the growing need for integrated data infrastructures, and the impact of national initiatives such as ELIXIRxNextGenIT, funded under the NextGenerationEU / PNRR framework, in strengthening computational resources, data management and interoperability for the Italian life sciences community.

 

The video offers a snapshot of the discussions and collaborations that are shaping the future of research infrastructures in Italy and their connection with the broader European ecosystem.
